Privacy, in plain words
Pilot notice. Sunup is a pilot. This page describes how the pilot handles information. It is not legal advice and will be reviewed before any public launch.
What we keep
- Family account: email address and a password (stored only as a one-way hash).
- For each person you add: first name, optional phone number, the check-in time and days, and the date and time of each check-in.
- Your contacts' names and phone numbers or emails, only after you confirm they agreed.
- Reminder text you type and photos you upload.
- An activity log of alerts that were sent (to show you what happened).
What we do not keep
- No location, no health information, no medication details, no microphone or camera access, no advertising or tracking.
Who sees it
Only you and the family you add. Messages are sent through service providers (Twilio for texts and calls, an email provider, and your browser's push service) which see the message and phone number or address.
Your control
- Export everything from the dashboard (Privacy section).
- Delete a photo at any time. Deleted photos are removed from our storage.
- Delete a person or your whole account from the dashboard. Everything is erased.
- Check-in history and the activity log are automatically deleted after 90 days.
Consent
The person being checked on should know about Sunup and agree to it. Sunup asks the family to confirm this, and each contact must have agreed to be contacted.
Not an emergency service
Sunup cannot call for help. Alerts can be delayed or fail. In an emergency, call 911.
Hosting location: to be confirmed before any public launch. Questions? Contact the person who invited you to the pilot.
